What’s better than a headwrap to complete an outfit? This style has grown extensively in popularity, becoming a norm in today’s fashion world. Winter or summer fall or spring; this timeless piece is all about expression through color, variety, and heritage. Used for protection, maintenance, and statements there’s a headwrap for every occasion.

I’ve used just about every scarf, shirt, and cut up piece of fabric to wrap around my head. Why not get two uses out of one purchase? Ten years ago, I started diving deep into headwraps; how to put them on, what are the different types, will I even look good with one on? (Google couldn’t tell me that one). Whether you want to leave your hair down or simply let the back of your neck breathe—there are a few reasons to incorporate a head wrap into your daily routine:
- Overnight Hair Protection: Deep conditioning night? Simply add a silk or satin headscarf to keep hair far away from drying fabrics such as cotton.
- Taming the Beast: large headwraps are a great way to save time in the morning, especially on bad hair days.
- Fashion Statement: Tie, tuck, and go! Headwraps can go with ANY outfit.
- Heritage: Show a sense of pride—paying homage to Afro-centric roots through traditional styles.

While in Miami, I had the pleasure of fully experiencing what “Miami Heat” actually was. Let’s just say, 3 attempts of curl ironing my hair went out the window the second I stepped outside. With a photoshoot just minutes away, I grabbed my scarf, tied it around my head, tried to stay clear of the sun, and hoped for the best. Of course, my hair was no match to Florida’s humidity. Half away through the shoot, that headwrap went back on. If I was going to struggle, then I was going to struggle in style. *hair flip*
Let me know what you guys think in the comments, did I nail or fail this look?
